Steven Abbott Associates Helps Eden Park Drive Urban Development Forward in Buckshaw

Independent town planning consultancy Steven Abbott Associates (SAA) has obtained planning permission on behalf of Eden Park Developments for all reserved matters relating to the local centre of Buckshaw Urban Village.

Buckshaw Village is a new residential and industrial area between the towns of Chorley and Leyland in Lancashire, and is currently one of the largest urban development sites in the North West of England as well as the largest brownfield regeneration scheme in the whole of Europe. The project will create the biggest new urban community in decades, and is being built in line with sustainable development principles.

The Eden Park local centre is a key part of the wider Buckshaw project, and was designed by Stephen George and Partners (SGP) and Saunders Architects, with support on transport matters from BWB Consulting. When finished the project will include a new supermarket, other small shop units for town centre uses, 159 residential apartments and 24 houses, a petrol filling station, a nursery and other facilities.

Lancashire based SAA secured the reserved matter approval, which deals with any outstanding issues from the previous outline application proposal, earlier this month. SAA partner, Steven Abbott comments: “Buckshaw Village is an exciting regeneration scheme and has been a great success for Chorley and South Ribble local authorities. The local centre is in close proximity to the site of a new railway station on which Network Rail secured a reserved matters approval last year, which enhances the sites’ sustainable location."
