Booths to expand with Grange Store

Steven Abbott Associates (SAA) has helped its client, the food store operator Booths further expand its operations, announcing this week that the retailer has received planning permission for a new food store in Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria.

SAA, which is the retained planning consultant of the Preston based food store chain, acted as planning and retail consultant to this project, liaising closely with South Lakeland District Council who approved the application.

SAA worked closely with a number of Booths’ advisers on this project, including chartered surveyors and property consultants Robert Pinkus and Co, concept architect Donald Clark, scheme architects Damson Design, solicitors Napthens, transport  consultants Turner Lowe, structural and civil engineers RG Parkins, and acoustic specialists Philip Dunbavin.

The proposals were submitted in response to a retail consultant’s report adopted by the Local Planning Authority which advocated that a relatively small food store was suited to the town.

Partner at SAA, Steven Abbott comments: “‘We are delighted to have been involved with this application. Booths has been interested in Grange for some years now, believing that its style of food store which does not work to standard store templates, would sit well within this charming and sensitive town. We look forward to seeing the scheme materialise in due course as it should enhance the already considerable and special qualities of Grange. It is hoped the new Booths store will capture those local shoppers who currently have to shop further afield, supporting the long term sustainability of the town centre.”

The site currently comprises an existing car dealership at the north end of the town centre.
