Booths expands further with Hesketh Bank Store
North West based food and drink retailer Booths is to open a new store in Hesketh Bank, Lancashire.
Independent town planning consultancy, Steven Abbott Associates (SAA) worked in close partnership with Wilson Mason architects to secure planning permission on behalf of Booths, with the project set to deliver a food store with tea room, car parking, and associated landscaping to the area.
With previous approval granted for the erection of a food store on the site, SAA worked with Booths, Wilson Mason architects and the local authority to ensure the revised designs met with the approval and needs of the local community.
The proposal is intended to extend and complement the range of shops currently in the local shopping area, reducing the need for shopping trips further afield and enabling peoples’ day-to-day needs to be met locally. The proposal represents a traditional but bespoke design approach, which fully respects the character of the local area.
Partner at SAA, Alastair Skelton comments: “The proposal is likely to have tangible benefits in terms of the local economy. It is envisaged the store will create around 80 jobs in the area, and as Booths has a policy of recruiting staff locally, it is hoped that the development will act as a catalyst , supporting the long term sustainability of the town.”
The store is due to open in Winter 2010.
