Steven Abbott Associates LLP Helps Booths Continued Growth

Booths - Scotforth Road, Lancaster

North West based planning consultancy, Steven Abbott Associates LLP has secured planning permission for a new supermarket in Scotforth, south Lancaster for E.H.Booth & Co. Ltd (Booths). The new store will replace the existing, very popular one nearby which is too small to meet modern requirements.

The store, designed by Wilson Mason has a striking modern design. This cleverly uses the levels on the site to minimise the visual impact, enhance the setting and create a highly sustainable and energy efficient building.

Steven Abbott, Partner at Steven Abbott Associates LLP said:

“Booths team, of which we are a part, has worked hard to bring forward a high quality development. The design of the proposed store is ambitious but also typifies the sensitivity with which Booths work to ensure their developments enhance their surroundings in a sustainable and responsible manner.”

“We are delighted, once again, to have played a key role in securing permission for another Booths store and look forward to moving forward with the scheme.”

Others involved in the planning process include Robert Pinkus & Co, Turner Lowe Associates, Donald Clark Architect, Napthens, Margaret Twigg – Landscape Architect, Hann Tucker Associates, R.G. Parkins & Partners, Simply Ecology, Iain Tavendale – Aboricultural Consultant, Resource and Environmental Consultants.

The success in Lancaster follows other recent approvals for a new store in Milnthorpe and an extension to the existing Booths store in Kirkby Lonsdale. The scheme at Milnthorpe will be built by Houghton Parkhouse, who have become clients of Steven Abbott Associates LLP as a consequence of the absorbtion of Barden Planning of Kendal into the Practice.

The Milnthorpe scheme was designed by Damson Design. It was the first Booths scheme dealt with by Steven Abbott Associate LLP’s Kendal office, although the Appley Bridge office was also involved.

The Kirkby Lonsdale extension was designed by its original architects, Farrell & Clark and enhances an award winning building.
