Appeal success for replacement dwelling in the Green Belt

Steven Abbott Associates LLP has recently secured planning permission on appeal for a replacement dwelling in the Green Belt at Mount Pleasant Farm, Birtle.

The house is of a highly contemporary design produced by Chorley based practice SDA Architecture.

The planning application was initially refused by Rochdale Council and Steven Abbott Associates LLP were instructed to submit a planning appeal which made the case that the proposed dwelling did not have a material impact on the openness of the Green Belt and represented the redevelopment of a previously developed site. The Planning Inspector agreed with this and allowed the appeal.

Christie McDonald, an Associate at the Appley Bridge office, said:

“We are delighted to have won the appeal and are looking forward to seeing the fruits of all our hard work. It was always our opinion that the proposed house was of a size and design which the local planning authority should have approved in the first instance so it was pleasing to finally get planning permission for what we consider to be a high quality piece of modern architecture. We hope this is the first of many planning permissions for SDA Architecture’s work as we look to establish a long-term professional relationship with them.”
