Alastair Skelton
Alastair joined Steven Abbott Associates in 1993 as an Associate and became a Partner in the Practice in July 2000. Prior to joining Steven Abbott Associates, Alastair had gained eight years local government experience in the Midlands and the North West.
Alastair advises a broad range of clients on all aspects of land use planning. Recent instructions have involved work on the following projects:
- Promotion of brownfield regeneration sites for residential and mixed use development
- Promoting the release/allocation of sites through the Local Plan process (including housing allocations, Green Belt release, major urban extensions)
- Promotion of land and water based regeneration schemes on the Lake Windermere Waterfront
- Development of places of worship/meeting halls to serve the Brethren Church community
- Preparation and management of residential planning applications
- Restoration of Grade II* listed mill and associated enabling development
- Advising on redevelopment of egg and poultry production/processing sites and premises across the UK
- Acting as expert witness in various planning inquiries for private and local authority clients
- Promotion of brownfield residential development proposals
Alastair also has recent experience of the planning systems in Scotland and the Isle of Man.
